Die Casting

Openwork gold jewellery on a casting tree

After casting

The pieces then move on to finishing and polishing. Each raw piece is checked for defects and alloy conformity as part of our quality control.

The wax tree is carefully placed in a steel container filled with white plaster to capture every detail.

The mold is then heated in industrial ovens for 15 to 16 hours at a temperature of 800 degrees, removing the wax and leaving a hollow impression of the tree. The pieces are arranged to allow molten metal to flow evenly through the structure. The liquid metal is then poured into the mold, creating a solid metal tree that faithfully replicates the original wax design, with precision visible from all angles — interior, top, and sides.

Die casting for jewellery: from wax to metal

At Atelier KBS, die casting turns the wax tree into a metal tree. We cast gold and silver, depending on the piece and your order. The tree is prepared at the grapping stage.

The casting steps

The plaster mold is heated for 15 to 16 hours at 800 °C: the wax disappears and leaves the hollow impression of the tree. The liquid metal is then poured to fill every detail, and the metal tree is freed from the plaster.
